We hear a lot about PPE these days, personal protective equip-ment. I wear a mask when I shop and when I do my work as a chaplain. I am not here to debate it. I recently was part of a Nightingale service for a nurse that died and I spoke about PPE for the heart that is hurting. During this time of COVID 19 people are having a hard time coping. Many are stressed out and lacking peace. Have you put on your PPE for your heart? Proverbs 4:23 says, “Above all else guard your heart, for it is the well-spring of life.”
Here’s how you can protect your heart! Immerse yourself in God’s word. When God gives you a promise, write it down. Memorize it. Declare it out loud so Satan and his demons can hear it. Pray it. Sing it. Stand on the truth of God’s word. Satan is a liar and murderer. His plan is to steal, kill, destroy and divide (John 10:10). Division is not God’s will. Jesus prayed that all Christ followers would be one (John 17:23). Jesus came to break down the barrier or wall between Jew and Gentile (Ephesians 2:14-16). Apply that to the divisions in the church today. Division usually comes when we look down on others and somehow think we are better or smarter than them. Put on the armor of God and stand strong in Jesus (Ephesians 6:10-18). Notice that the breastplate of righteousness protects your heart and that is PPE for the heart. Jesus said He came to serve and to give His life as a ransom for many (Mark 10:45).
