Missions
Founded as a Mission Church in 1955, Westover continues to show their strong commitment to supporting both local and international missions. They serve others and offer the love and hope of Christ by:
- consistently budgeting a substantial portion of the church's resources for missions
- collecting for the DMARC Food Pantry, orphans in Uganda, and Chin refugees living in Des Moines
- sharing worship space with the Chin Baptist Church of Des Moines
- frequently sending members on short-term mission trips to places like Tijuana and the Dominican Republic through encouragement and support
- fostering a mindset of outreach, service, and love in our youth and children through service opportunities and outreach events
To Clarify Confusion: baptist group arrested in Haiti is not American Baptist
Response To Arrests Of Baptist Group Members In Haiti
In the news, reporters are referring to the group of ten missionaries arrested over the weekend as "American Baptist" or from an "American Baptist church" because they are from the United States, but the expression might create confusion among our constituents. Please know that this group is not affiliated with American Baptist Churches USA.
