The All Church Skating Party was Fantastic!

We have a lot of fun every year at the skating party, but I can't help thinking this year was really special. It brought together families who are a part of our Wednesday night activities with families who usually come for Sunday worship. It crossed generational boundaries as the skating floor was sometimes occupied by every generation at once from retirees on down to 1 year old toddlers.
Families from every side and suburb of Des Moines were there, and the snack bar offered hospitality even to those who didn't venture out on skates, but came to enjoy the company of friends. We crushed the Cabin Fever of all those snow days and realized that we probably need to do this more than once a year so our children can get the confidence to cruise the floor like Jim L. does and maybe even skate backwards with their friends like Sandy D.! Great times together as the family of God!

Similarities between Following Jesus and Roller Skating
1. It's not natural or easy for people to do.
2. It helps to see someone, who already knows how, do it first.
3. Sometimes you get a little off balance and need someone to hold your hand.
4. When you mess up, it hurts.
5. When you get it right, it is exhilerating!
