A little girl sitting on the front steps of her home was singing the song, “Jesus Love Me, This I Know.”  A neighbor who had no time for God heard the song and it reminded him of days long gone by when he was a small boy in Sunday School.

“How do you know Jesus loves you,” he called to the child.  “Have you seen him?” 

“No, Mr. King, I haven’t seen him but I talk to him every night.”  The child went right on singing about Jesus.

Mr. King went into the house but the words of the song kept ringing in his ears. Memories of his childhood flooded his mind and he tried to remember why he had grown away form the love of Jesus.  A few tragedies of his life came before him but they were past.  He was well, he was successful but he was not happy.  Suddenly he remembered the time when he had swallowed his penny at Sunday School.  How excited the teacher had grown.  His mother, too, had been upset.  All over a swallowed penny.  He began to hum the tune.  He went outside again and spoke to the child.

“Do you think Jesus loves an old man like me?”

“Oh, yes, Mr. King, he loves you but you should tell him you love him. 

You never go to church.

“I’ll go next Sunday.”

Love has power!  Just as that man’s life was changed and made happy because a little child reminded him of a love he had neglected, we can change lives with love.

The Bible says “keep yourselves in the love of God” (Jude 21).

What a changed world we would live in if all people who name the name of Christ would keep themselves in love.  If only they would live as though they really wanted to win the world with love.
