The WinterJam Concert was Standing Room Only at Vets!
It was wild! There were so many people lined up for this event that they filled up Vets and then had to turn people away. The craziness of the crowd made it impossible to know where and how many Heirborn and Westover people made it out to the concert, but to all who did, I'm sure it was worth it!
Although we enjoyed all the acts, it was especially fun to see my all-time favorite band, Third Day. While their music is definitely rock, their melodies and messages consistently bring me encouragement and put me in touch with the Almighty. We hadn't seen them live in several years, so it was a treat to have them headline WinterJam. I'm usually a concert-going cheap-skate; I can't imagine purchasing a $30 shirt at an event where I already paid $30 to get in. But since it was only $10, I sprang for some Third Day drumsticks, which made me feel very cool until the volunteer asked if I play drums. I said, "Can I get them still if I don't?" Maybe I'm not cool, but I still love my drumsticks. The big tip I have to share is that the "gamer" T-shirt is only $10 on-line through their site, so if you want to sport your Third Day concert T-shirt at a discount, go check it out. You'll see me in mine as soon as it gets here!
Finally, to quote Newsboys' new lead singer (formerly of DC Talk) Michael Tait, "Sometimes the way to the heart, is through the headphones." I'm grateful that Christian music has come so far that when we encourage each other to fill our mind, our hearts, and our MP3 players with something that is true, noble, right, pure, lovely, admirable, excellent, and praiseworthy (Phil 4:8), it isn't such a sacrifice!
