We now have teams at Westover. We used to have departments but now we are calling them teams. I like the word team. We are all in this together. We can accomplish much more when we work together, especially when we have the same goals in mind. Think about goals for our church in 2020. I would think that we would all agree that we want to see our church grow and be healthy. It all starts be centering our lives on Jesus. I challenge you to spend time daily in God’s word and ask God to speak to you. Paul said in Phil. 3:10, “I want to know Christ and the power of his resurrection and the fellowship of sharing in his sufferings…” Suffering is one of God’s tools to draw us closer to Jesus. You need to know that every person has a burden or a problem they are dealing with.
I will be preaching a series of messages in 2020 on Philippians and I will be emphasizing teamwork. Jesus said in John 13:34-35 that it is our calling to love one another. How will that love manifest itself? How will we reach out to show love to our neighbors? How can we be witnesses and point people to Jesus? If we can’t get along with each other why would God bring us new people to be part of our church? There is such power in unity and love. My love for you grows as I pray for you often. God’s word says that our time is short. Jesus could come back any day or we could die. In 2019 we lost some key people in our church that we miss dearly. Like someone has said, “live like you are dying.” I can’t wait to preach on Philippians, a book Paul wrote from jail and it is filled with joy. LET’S GO TEAM WESTOVER!
