God’s Design for the Church

God’s Design for the Church

What is God’s design for the church?   “Now you are the body of Christ, and each one of you is a part of it (I Cor. 12:27).”  What if each part of your body decided to do its own thing?   Can you imagine the mess you would be in?  In the church Christ is the head of the body, the church.  Each one of us is part of the body or team and needs to do its part.   Our goal is to work together to accomplish God’s purposes.  Mini tools (online) has this acrostic for the word TEAM.

T is for trust.  All must learn to respect and accept one another regard-less of opinions, personalities, or differences in gifting and abilities.  It is hard to work together if there is not trust.   We are on the same team and are not enemies.   We are the family of God called to serve God.

E is for engaged.   All must eagerly to their part.   Ephesians 4:16   How are you serving God?   Are you praying for one another?   How are you manifesting the love of Christ to others?

A is for adaptable.   Be willing to change to accomplish God’s purposes. New wine needs new wineskins.   We have seen this year how much we need to change or adapt so we can continue the ministry God has called us to.   Missionaries are really good at being adaptable.

M is for missional.   Jesus said that we are to make disciples (Matthew 28:19).    Disciples who love God wholly and who love others (their neighbors).  A growing church will have a focus on reaching new people in love and sharing the good news of Jesus.  You begin by praying for those who do not know Jesus.

In January I will begin a series of messages on teamwork.
